Well 498 finally arrived at its new home here in Wales yesterday. First inspection suggests it has been cared for since leaving the army, and the chassis is in amazing condition when compared to UK vehicles of similar age.

Finding its Queensland plate inside was a bonus, but I'll have to get it UK registered.

Inside is pretty well complete and original, although the ignition switch has been altered to keyed and the starter button is on the blackout panel. It's a shame it had lap belts bodged in, I have already removed what remained of them. Nice to find the seat backs numbered to it!.

Under the bonnet has suffered the most alterations, but nothing too drastic. Wrong carb, the oil filler tube has been cut down to take a plastic cap, brake booster has been added and the air cleaner is missing. Also the starter solenoid is clearly a replacement, and those leads...

The original? horn is still fitted to the battery tray, with the later one above on the front panel.
