Hey Juddy,
My read on import regulations (I'm not an expert) are that the vehicle has to be in "substantially" unmodified condition (whatever that means).  I had planned to have the turbo upgrade but changed my mind after re-reading import guidelines.

I guess it would be possible to purchase an engine at auction and have KLR do turbo upgrade on it then import as LTL.
The Isuzu 4BD2-T was a common engine in GMC badged Isuzu trucks in the US, so getting the bits to convert a 4BD1 to turbo after arrival shouldn't be a problem.

The Z vin code for the engine is the same for the 4x4 and 6x6 which is 3.9 isuzu, as we know the 6x6 came with a turbo, there should be no issues in putting a turbo on a 4x4 as it is still under the same blanket.

They also sold 4bd1t's here so there is no real reason to do the turbo conversion before it leaves aus anyway, cheaper to source your own parts and DIY.

My RFSV arrived today!  It took 2 months to ship across the pacific so it must have stopped everywhere.  I have found the 2 batteries in the LHS bin and they are both connected.  The shipper sent me a photo of a battery that they disconnected and there is a spare tire in the photo.  Is this my RFSV or some random vehicle?

Some random vehicle, that carpet and storage net look Mazda-ish to me. You must be excited to get your hands on the Perentie!

Dervish, I am very excited to finally get it.  I guess now that I look closer at the surface that is a short carpet.  Yeah, I spent about an hour looking for that hidden battery bin.

I guess I need to pull front/first battery from the box and put on a charger.  the right hand battery looks like it just needs replacement.

Fantastic news Mac101. You now have a great vehicle that is unique in the States: I am sure you will be the envy of many.

I've done the opposite - I own a series 2a FFT but am in the final stages of restoring an M151A2.

Well, it is good to know that it got there OK - well done!

We'll all be interested to hear about the reactions you get to it when you take it out.

Just a friendly tip, when you do replace the batteries IMHO it is better to have both earths (-) towards the outside of the vehicle (as the aux battery is positioned in the photo).

Hey Aussie Jeepster,

I'm in Washington State.  Shoot me a PM if you find yourself in Washington.

Thank you Carzee and Dugite, I am very excited to get this LR and can't wait to get her on the road.

Hi Kman, I have put a lot of miles in on the M151A2.  Enjoy her, they are fun to drive.

Donald
