That really nice cabin and fabricated custom console has inspired me.

I have fitted new seat covers and a new gearknob ($30 from the local LR dealer).
I have fabricated my own console-cubby box too. I used a KISS as I don't have CAD. The 'raw material' was made in Aust. in 1997 so it may last a few more years.

I'm sure that some of the ideas shared in this thread will give owners some ideas of what fittings could be useful for them.

Another "useful " thing to do with the 24v system...

power outlet board with fridge plugs (Engels work really well on 24v) and Merit outlet for external camping/reversing light.

Manual switching for reversing camera and light because some of the times you need them you sometimes need them you don't always have it going in reverse gear  :)

Additional 12v power outlets for accessories on front of console.

All additional 12v is wired from battery (fuse protected) but activated by a relay switched by ignition "on".

24v outputs are individually fused but "on" - fridges stay cold for a long while if left connected  :)

Looks the goods, carzee!

When you take a knife to those water jerrys, you get a surprise seeing how thick they are. I think I will use some 25mm webbing to strap it in place. I am using a neoprene pad under it.

Once again, no drilling or permanent mods for the plastic console, in case a better idea comes along in the future.
Using an old steel jerry there would have meant some down sides - more prep work and it would have a smell.

What is this console you have in the dash? Did you make it? I was looking for something like this, for some Gauges as you have done, but also for some cigarette lighters to mount them, need to charge the phone. I dont like the MUD UK console as it would cover the blackout switches!!

My series has a V Piece in the dash, that i put the Cig lighter in, but i didnt see that for a defender/110.

The triangle with 2 clocks, one an ammeter and one an engine-hours-meter is on all the FFRs, the Snr Commander (which was the 4 door wagon with radio fitted), and the Command Post (which was the 2 door hardtop aka biscuit tin with radio fitted).

Here is a link to a Command Post interior photo showing said triangular fitting:

Thanks, looks expensive! I was hoping it was aftermarket! I will have to make a metal one to look similar! Hour meter, tach and maybe EGT and Boost depending on whether I turbo!

Hi RCKD,

The centre dash pod was only fitted to Perenties with the 24v electrical system installed for radio work. It held the 24v ammeter and the hour meter (these vehicles could be running in a stationary position for long periods and hence the odometer did not keep track of engine use).

Attached here is the page from the parts book - I know you don't have access to parts but I would think you could fabricate one out of light sheet metal fairly easily  :)

Cut a cardboard template out to get the fit right and then cut the metal -

My Perentie is a GS but I wanted a clock and voltmeter for the aux battery.
I scrounged the 3 FFR parts from different sources and have also fitted a cig lighter and twin usb charge outlet to it.
Looks original, and involved drilling 2 small holes.

Thanks for the reference, it looks easy enough to make with aluminum, I will probably do it so I can do 3 wide on the gauges!

Thanks, I will look into 2nd hand parts but I have to source and ship 10k miles, not as cheap as it could be to make!
