Welcome to "Ian's Shed" page.
Both of Ian's ex-Army ¼ ton 88" Land-Rovers has it's own photo page:
Ian also has a folder of old RAEME Series 2 Land-Rover documents from 1961
Number 2: The late 2A
Ian says he tracked this Landy down in late 2004 and managed to pursuade the farmer near the A.C.T. to sell it. It was pretty good looking and goes okay.
As it turned out, Ian has got pretty good lucky with Landys, because this is one rare ex-army Landy. For a start, it is a 1972 Aust. Army chassis (and there's not many of them) but secondly it is a 88" G.S., not a 109" G.S.. Prior to this example, REMLR would've doubted they even existed; checking out the vehicle's numbers and fittings was called for ASAP.
As can be verified by the photos, it is the real deal all right. What was going on in 1972 with those late Series 2A units? The nomenclature plate even says it is a 109" ¾ ton - whilst it also has a 88" '243' prefix chassis number stamped on it. The ADR plate has matching numbers too. Strange tales, but obviously true. Perhaps the BBB will answer all the questions... "Stay tuned for more", as they say in TV land.
PS: also in 2004, Ian brought some old but original Army sigs gear - a C13 set - and the pics are at the bottom of this page. |
