Welcome to "Ian's Shed" page.
Both of Ian's ex-Army ¼ ton 88" Land-Rovers has it's own photo page:
Ian also has a folder of old RAEME Series 2 Land-Rover documents from 1961
Number 1: The early 2A
Ian is member 191 and he says, "I have been a Series 1 Land-Rover enthusiast for a fair while (have a couple of them in the shed) but this is my first ex-army Landy.
"I brought this early one from a military collector near Melbourne during 2004. I'm planning to restore it to everyday "run-around" working condition. I has very little rust, and it runs okay at the moment as is, but it does have the usual oil leaks etc which need to be fixed before I can expect to get it onto Club Rego plates. I want to run around in it a fair bit on weekends and enjoy it as much as possible..."
It certainly is a very original looking G.S. and a good buy; it even came with extra carbies and a new canvas top (bonus!). It had a hardtop fitted (as most do)... and Ian had to get a set of hood bows together. One of the more original GS fittings still obviously in place is the jerrycan holding brackets (rare nowadays and hard to figure out, even with the benefit of the Army Parts Scale drawings).
In the future, Ian plans to give it a paint job and display the Landy with RAEME tacs and is interested in all things RAEME; Ian's father is a Vietnam War veteran (he served in 5 Coy RAASC, Workshops Det.) Being a RAEME gear collector means having a Army LR Pattern trailer too. In January 2005 Ian brought a workshop trailer from Ballarat (appears to be ARN 173-784). More soon.
