Watch for Ambos for overweight ratings.
makes hard to bring down load rating for
normal rego.
just a point.

Good point. I have given this little thought. Hopefully the red mist stays at bay near auction close.

3,650 / 5,600;  TARE/GVM as they come; room for stuff = 2 tonne.

3,450 / 4,500; TARE/GVM with some bits stripped and downrated = 'normal rego' = 1 tonne payload. Which is little crazy because I'd buy it only to load up and go walk-about. The GS carries that much (but no luxurious hard body on the back!).
If you want a 6x6, get your LR license and be done with it.
If you are worried about the rego cost of a light truck, perhaps a 4x4 would better suit.

29-417 101 GS, 30-248 101 Rapier Tractor. 30-238 101
34-597 Crump & Cornish 1 ton Cargo Trailer
RT21 RAAF Track Tactical Trailer, 234-671 RAAF Track Tactical Trailer

Says here tare weight for Ambo is 4650 kg

Thanks for the link - I have not seen this before. I'm not sure who the right person is, but the REMLR info for the 6x6 models needs to be updated to reflect this - as it is sitting at the numbers I quoted for all 6x6 variants.

Thanks, this info is very helpful.

For the record I'm not worried, already have a GS, and agree that LR licence and plated GVM are the only way to go if stepping up to 6x6.

:(
One of the early FFR perenties I saw and photographed at the School Of Infantry Museum, ARN 48-962, has appeared at the AFM Minto auction as a rollover wreck:

I'm old enough to consider being  called a 'Pro' as a compliment. In my time 'Operator' held the same level of esteem.
Still not the worst thing i've ever been called, not by a long shot ;)

I feel for you mate.
Tell you what; every time I kick 'Sleazy' in the guts next week, I'll send the vibe to you? Not hard with all those Isuzu vibes :)
