Those srv's in the current nsw auction would have been a good chance to have seen service overseas wouldn't they?
Did you notice the SRVs didn't have split rims. A first I thought they had been stripped of the good bits but now I'm thinking they are basically unused and have not yet had the good bits attached.

No, they've been stripped of the good bits, split rims, side baskets, Carl Gustav mounts, MG rings etc etc etc anyway I might be able to give you more details soon ;D

Defence recently purchased a large quantity of wolf rims. Looking at those shiny rims and brand new tyres, it looks like the splitties are being stored somewhere. Hawkei SOV is still a little way off.
Kind Regards, Barefoot Dave.

I don't remember ever hearing about asbestos in the Perenties when I was in the army. Now the vehicles have the warning placards about asbestos content.

I've searched but not found any references to asbestos in Perenties on this site. Where exactly is the asbestos in these vehicles?
Firewall?
Exhaust?

Have civvie owners pulled the relevant components out of these vehicles?

I understand that there was some concern that earlier brake linings (in common with civvie brakes of the time) had linings that included asbestos.

AFAIK there is no asdestos in the vehicle.

The printed warnings address liability issues.

Others may hopefully add further detail.

Is there a list somewhere of trailer ARN's that went to SVN. It would be interesting to find out whether either of mine served there.

Notice that the tyres for sale are listed as used while the photos show the label still stuck on the tread BUT they've used the same photo on all lots! Somewhat deceptive!!

While chatting beside a long line of Perenties at Minto, a lizard (5 to 6 inch) was spotted moving along using tyres as cover. Passed under 3 RFSVs and went to the wall of the shed.

I left a few REMLR cards and had a look at Logbooks. Staff were great. We got showbags! And I got a momento. I met Greg from Canberra and Roger S. too. A good day- pity about the ISIS terrorist incident nearby (~1.6km) http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-09-11/alleged-sydney-terror-attacker-inspired-by-is-minto-stabbing/7833870

The parts and tyres were of great interest and I got to daydream in the AFM "Not for sale" 6x6 Inf Carriers. They are in pristine/showroom condition.
Also heard that prop people from PacificRim sequel movie prod were looking to buy vehicles for a "action sequence". Could be good source for some spares afterwards.

RFSVs....

All the RFSV have jerry boxes underneath. One even loaded.
One is missing the pintle cover plate/entry step.
Four don't have air - the ARB compressor.
Three have a map bag in back of the front pgr seat if you look closely.
A few have a locker key.
51-787 has a noticable body lean - maybe a set of new coils will fix it. It has a wheel brace.
50-405 has a baseballish diameter dent right down low on the drv side. You cannot see it in the AFM photos, its in the black cam above the side bar mnt.
51-746 is a Pilbara cam scheme RFSV -nb: no compliance plate, a re done chassis number, and no hi lift jack sockets on rear crossmember. But it does have a hi lift in the basket. Thats a bit unusual. Also 3 spare tyres and a little collection of CES in a drv side rear locker.

The tyres have never been fitted to a rim, so they are NOS.
