I had a look at the Brisbane wagons today. Contrary to appearances on the website, I thought lot 4 was in better nick substantively. 3 had quite a bit of rust in door frames and around the outer lip of the cabin floor; none in 4 that I could see.

Having said that, 4's interior was a bit ropey. Loose plastics in doors, the locking tabs did nothing, rear right door wouldn't open from the outside and the boot door was very hard to open.

These are the first ones I've looked at though, so I'm not sure what sort of quality to expect in terms of interior.

I agree with everything you said, plus both had BIG pools of water in the front floor and number 4 was very wet in the back. We eventually got the rear door open but gave up on the right rear.
The back of the rear seat in 3 was very bowed and no4 was straight and fitted with a metal backing plate (3 had a wood backing on the seat back). Will be interesting to see how they go, but I lost interest pretty quickly after seeing no books, then lost even more interest after seeing them.
They ran ok, but very rough. Shame they had no books.

plus both had BIG pools of water in the front floor and number 4 was very wet in the back.

It looked to me like the water had come in the vents under the windscreen, although I guess it could also indicate a seal problem elsewhere (and if it's been happening for a while who knows what rust lurks behind the dash...). Some of the soft tops had collapsed in under the weight of pooled water on their rooves. If I was Gray's I'd look after them a little better than this...

And one soft top was torn as well.
What really got me was that many of the trailers had log books which were just thrown in the back of them, water and all.
I agree about Grays - a little more care might equate to a little more revenue (read commission!)

Do people realise that the vehicles in each auction usually only arrive at the Minto site in the 6 weeks prior to each auction?  It may be that the damage happened while the vehicle was in storage within Defence.

Also, as I understand it, the warehouse at Minto is run and operated by Australian Frontline Machinery (Sell & Parker).  The Graysonline part of the site is merely the site office on the NorthWest corner of the warehouse building.  Graysonline are an internet auction site/auctioneer and AFM a vendor customer.

Actually many in the wrecks section have been in storage by the army as you see them.  Australian Frontline Machinery simply have them delivered like that forthe most part, good, bad or ugly!

I think there were a lot of damaged ones stored at bandiana?  at one time.

Here are some pictures of 48-006 as promised. I didn't notice any other differences from a regular Snr. Commander. I would've liked to get photos of the ID plates on the sides of the seat box, but the doors had been cable tied closed.
Cheers Dervish. Nice pics.
not only for the 006 number but for that uniques 'Formation Commander' plate.

I too was expecting to see unique ID plates on 48-006, following on from it's Auction description as a "Formation Commander" vehicle. Alas, it's just a regular "Senior Commander".

Hi, that plate belongs to 48-621 http://www.graysonline.com/lot/0032-5009621/transport-trucks-and-trailers/land-rover-110-4x4-senior-commander-hard-top-wagon-9-1988, open the additional photos  - it's there and says formation commander

Did you get the photos mixed up??
regards
