Fuel Issues - RFSV - Engine reinstall
« on: December 08, 2021, 04:28:07 PM »
Hi All,

It's been a while since I've been on and it's been about 4 years since I rolled the old girl.
I've had the engine rebuilt and injector pump/injectors serviced, put it all back together and back in the engine bay.
I've reconnected everything as best I could and primed it all up just can't get the engine to fire.

Initially I wasn't getting fuel through the pump, but that's sorted now.
I've attached a video link because the sounds the engine is making may help.

My concerns at the moment are:
Stuffed started motor
Dodgy earth/active connection somewhere
Injector pump timing/phasing out.

any thoughts?
Does the video help?

Do you need any more info/photos/video?

Cheers,
Tripps

Bugger all fuel coming through there. Sounds like the battery is a bit weak as well. Fuel issue could be anything from sucking air somewhere to a primer pump or lift pump problem.

Battery is brand new, it had a few cracks before that video, so she might have been running low. On charge now to fix that up.

I was concerned about the pumps initially, it took a ****ing long time to get the fuel up there. Me and another bloke we tagging out to prime it for about half an hour and even then we were getting stuff all to the injectors.
But I moved on from that to concerns about a timing issue because I thought it was enough fuel?
Having said that, I haven’t checked the banjo bolt yet, which is probably a rookie (which I am) mistake?
Someone did tell me if it’s a timing issue and I get it to turn over I will probably stuff the engine again though, so I’m very concerned about that.
I’m just not sure I have the ability to fix a timing issue with the engine still in the car…

I’ve just got home from the old girl now, had a fella come round and look at it.
He gave her a gentle rub on the air intake and whispered something to her and she bloody started.

In all seriousness though, he cracked the injector feeds on 2 and 3 a 1/4 turn, I turned her over and she started. Timing is a little bit off and the tappits need to be adjusted according to him, but I should hopefully be able to do that myself.  The main thing is she’s running after 4 years lol.

Anyone got any good resources for the spill timing?

Cheers,
Tripps
