114 211 2a bloodbox
« on: June 14, 2018, 11:25:00 PM »
Hello All

Just managed to pick this one up. its been sitting under a carport for 7+ years as the elderly owner could no longer use it. from what I can gather he bought it from the auctions in perth in 1991. he fitted a Isuzu c240 motor in it and drove it all over the state. I will be fitting a petrol motor back to it as I don't think it was engineered with the diesel. its fairly straight and the chassis is good. its had some strange but practical mods done to it. will try ad put some pics up. Cheers Gaz

What a great bloodbox Dodge!  A great project and I am looking forwards to seeing the progress.  You are lucky getting such a clean vehicle - I am envious!

Looking good, I just saw more photos of this on facebook where somebody missed out on this ambulance, I think that different parts of the family were talking to different people.  Anyway, welcome to the ambulance club.

Terrific work Daniel!

Good to see some 2A stuff as well.

Where did you get the bar treads?

Cheers,

Mike.

Covid update....
Respray was done exactly a month ago. Weekend just gone after some thorough checks and some badly needed brake attention, a 300km round trip to Perth and back in a day was undertaken, successfully I might add. The old girl was happy to sit on 80-85km/h the whole way. I just checked Chapter 15 of the 1967 AMF Vehicle Operating Instructions for the speed limits for military vehicles and 50mph is the max speed for a bloodbox. Shes come up really well, and like everything there's lots of small jobs to complete, but the paint and first time on the road in 10years was a massive milestone for the project.

Looking good!

A 300 km drive is probably just what it needs really, the more you drive them the less issues!
