Wanted - Perentie Tie Down
« on: April 04, 2018, 11:52:39 AM »
Hi All,

I have an FFR - and I was talking to somebody at Cooma who said: "You need some of the tie down's that the GS Perentie's have in the rear inside of the tub."

Is this what he means?

Hook by Grey Ghost, on Flickr

If so - does anybody have any for sale?

If this isn't want he means - and there is a different type of tie down on the back of a GS - can somebody please show me what it looks like (and does somebody have any for sale) ??

Cheers,
GG.

This is the supplier, and they are not SS, so the circled part is the one, I think.

update- I checked the measurements. Does not match. Either it is no longer made or it was a different supplier. The mount bolt holes I just measured are 90mm long side and 50mm short side. The ring itself is not sprung and has diameter ~40mm.

Do not all GS (Cargo) & FFR Perenties have them on the floor ?

In any case GG, if you don't have them, I'm sure there are other methods of securing loose items.

I thought one of our ex army mechs said they were only meant to be fitted to GS models .... noting that some FFRs were fitted in error....

Do we have the EMEI ?

Hi All,

Thanks for the replies... I bought a small trailer cargo net, with black & yellow plastic hooks on it. I have simply been poking these hooks through the various holes in the floor / tub area.

I was asking because an ex army mechanic noticed my set-up and basically said: "There's an easier way to do that - instead of poking the hooks through the holes, just fit the tie downs that are standard on a GS. Easy - and looks a lot nicer".

Hence my question...!

I believe that they were not only fitted to the GS's, my RFSV came with 6 of the tie downs that look like the ones in Carzee's photo (3 down each side), and a further 8 footman straps/breeching staples, 4 along the back of the tub, and 4 on one side of the tub with tiedown ratchet straps attached for what looks like the high-lift jack.

The SRV tub floor also has lash rings. Needs a separate thread.

AFAIK those webbing fittings in RFSV variants are for cam poles (pass side) and cam net (at rear)

Thanks for that Dugite, I had heard they put the high-lift in one of the side baskets, where I put it for easy access when going 4wd'ing, so I had wondered about the tie down's need, especially the little cover for the pole ends towards the front which didn't really seem designed for a high-lift.
I thought the cam net went on the cam net rack on the roof, did they put net in both places?
cheers
David

Cannot really add much - I think I read what I posted in the driver handbook - the RFSV roofrack is much smaller than the GS/FFR, and the ROPS is quite different also :)  I understand the HiLift carry point was moved from the steel bullbar about the time the alloy variant came into use. It was moved to the lhs basket, which I find is a convenient place to carry one.

I'm not convinced we've been talking about the same tie down points....   :o

Well I put things that are easy for me to get at, so there is no right or wrong, different units do things different to others. Depending on the job, and if it was on a road with civvies or on the range or operations.

The tie-downs in the GS RPS are in section SQ with a Land Rover part number of HYG3861.
