Want to import a Haulmark trailer to US

I'd like to bid on a trailer at Australian Frontline for import to the US. Does anyone have any experience with this to steer me clear of the landmines?

No real landmines - these AFM auctions seem fair and above-board.

The traps for you may be
. that items must be picked up & removed by you or your representative on a certain date
. that they will deduct the purchase price + tax + fee etc (about another 16%) from the credit card you quote them on signing in (very smartly).
. and your rep need to have somewhere to store it.

Would it not be simpler to have one of the outfits that are used to purchasing, collecting and exporting vehicles do it all for you ?

One such outfit is KLR at South Windsor NSW - while it is probably to late to arrange for them to assist with the current (Feb '17) auction I'm assuming that there will be more Haulmarks to come.

Good info. The pick-up, fees and storage in Oz is not an issue. I have an associate who lives there who handled this for me when I purchased my Perentie. Our challenge really boils down to the seemingly arbitrary nature of what is importable and what is not without hassles. For example, we brought in an entire working Perentie with virtually no issues, but a spare crated motor was rejected. My export associate there has vast experience in ammunition and hunting goods, but vehicles are rather new to us. I guess I am just curious if I should expect anything about a trailer to be problematic.

Well, all that seems to be more of a problem at your end - can't you get a ruling from your customs department?

The motor issue was ultimately resolved. I'm just asking if anyone has any experience exporting a trailer specifically and if they encountered anything I should be mindful of.
