101 Shovel
« on: January 20, 2017, 12:22:55 PM »
Can someone give me the dimensions of the 101 shovel.  After width of the blade, length of the blade and the length of the the handle or overall length of the shovel.

Note these are not the same as other aussie military shovels.

Thanks

Garry

No idea. Didn't have a tape measure.

I'll have a look at it again next weekend. I might be taking it to Ballarat. I hope the 101 will be attached to it when I take it there.

I think it is basically a standard British shovel with a shorter handle. Some years ago I had to send one to a 101 owner in NSW.

So, I visited Rod the other day.
Rod showed me the latest haul of shovels he bought from the AFM auctions. Mainly Perentie shovels but a few series shovels as well.
And there was this odd one. A short shovel.

I reckon it's a 101 shovel.
