Last Day Of Defender Production

I find it in some ways very sad that theres no mention of the last ever Defender running off the line this morning UK time. After all it was for that land rover many years ago that gave us the Series Landy's and then the Perenties, plus all thoses in the middle.

Hi Juddy,

I think we're fully aware, plenty of mention on facebook via all the land rover closed groups and the Land Rover magazines on facebook etc even the Facebook Perentie group Hey!

In commemoration of the event I even bought a brand new Defender, although I did have to plan ahead considering there was a 6 month waiting period - I got mine order the wek before the close off period for orders!

Probably a stupid idea -

We should ask everyone to submit a photo of their LR and build date and set up a thread listing them in chronological order and see what we come up with . Wack yours on the end Scott.

I know it would be a big job but interesting to see how well we cover the LR history and its link to Aust Military.

It is just a name - the new vehicle could have been also called Defender but I guess the marketers decided it was time to put it to bed.

Whatever the name of the new vehicle, it will fulfil the same role of the old so the spirit if not the name will continue.

Yep Land Rover have never said it would not be made some place else.  India would be perfect cheap labour.  Not that LR AU would still sell it here, as it would not meet the new EURO Regs.
