LT95 rear output flange.
« on: March 06, 2015, 10:48:04 AM »
Hi All,    Finishing up my gearbox overhaul and came to checking the rear output flange.   Had to replace the flange bolts as they were u/s.   These bolts were welded to the flange instead of being retained by the usual circlip, the groove for which, is in excellent condition.
The question is, was there any fault that the ADF may have found with the circlip retainer method, that caused them to weld the bolts instead?

Cheers,  Daryl.

I remember seeing that emei when it was issued years ago. From memory it was to simplify removal of the nuts as they tend to rotate  a fair bit before the corner of the hex locks on the flange.

Thanks for the quick reply mate.

*snip* they tend to rotate  a fair bit before the corner of the hex locks on the flange.

Not wrong there Brian, about 30 degrees rotation from what I can see.
I'm glad there wasn't a problem with the circlip, as that's what I'm going to use, for three reasons ....

1.  I weld like crap.
2.  I know how to use a ratchet with two hands.
3.  See reason #1 and my mig isn't working at the mo ... only because I'm too tight to pay the extortion money to B*C and
I haven't set it up for gasless yet.

Cheers,  Daryl.
