I suspect there may be some sour grapes at play regarding the original vehicle sale at the beginning of this thread.l
Phill, I think you are reading this thread wrong.
Juddy started this thread and knowing more of Juddy's story with his workshop, I think it was more astonishment.
Reading the posts in this thread about the recent workshop purchase, I am very happy that fellow got it. I understand it has special significance to him.
I'm also very happy Juddy got his workshop. He's doing a great job with it and I always look forward to reading his reports on progress.
Actually, I had two chances to buy Juddy's workshop. I still like it and would love to have it.
I stumbled across it on ebay. It was on a farm and used it to collect firewood. They bought from another farmer in the area who bought it at the auctions. Anyway, back to the ebay bit. I was interested in it. I was very interested in it. I even went out to the farm to have a real good look at it and I was impressed and I was going to buy it. Trouble was, someone else was interested in it. A nice fellow I can say as I met him a few years later and found out his side of our bidding war.
I put in a bid. He would put in one higher. So on and so forth until....
It's a funny thing, he valued the workshop the same value as I did but as I was the first to bid than amount, It was mine.
Mine, mine I gleefully thought. Bidding had stalled. It was all but over I thought.
Then tragedy, my opponents wife said to her hubby "Why don't you put another five dollars on it."
Noooooooooo!
The turmoil I was in. Do I or don't I? I didn't know I was $5.01 away from ownership. As far as I could see it could have been fifty or five hundred or five thousand. Anyway he got it.
After a few years, the fellow who won the ebay auction wanted to sell it. Great, my second chance. Then Juddy sent me a message wanting me to look at it for him. I suggested we get Alien along too (he's really good with the mechanics). I met the fellow I had the bidding war with and we had a laugh. He had cleaned it up really well. There was no crap on it or in it.
The condition report and photo's were sent to Juddy and he bought it (well done). Later we assisted in getting it shipped, oh, and had a drive thinking of what may have been.
Funny how things work out
