1963 Series 2a 88" GS History.
« on: October 20, 2021, 08:51:42 AM »
Hello All.
I'm looking for information and or photos of a 1963 series 2a 88" Land Rover GS. Chassis #24303356a.
After much searching on this site through the ARN database, I had no luck tracking the chassis number.
By chance I checked the RAAF Registration List database and found an entry that matched.
The entry shows that the vehicle was transferred from Army to RAAF on 30/07/1964. ARN 112-803.
There is no information on Engine # or where it was transferred to or stationed.
The vehicle was bought without its engine, but mostly complete.
Any further information or images of this vehicle would be very much appreciated.
Thank You.

Hi Everyone.
Just an update on details I have found on my vehicle.
The ARN Database entry quote's that the vehicle was transferred from what I believe is Western Australia to RAAF base Williamtown ( Newcastle ).
It also quote"s an engine number.
It seems as though the vehicle has spent its life after transferring from WA in and around the Hunter Valley.
The final piece to the puzzle would be a photo or any other information.
Anyone?

Here is the photo of a line up of RAAF vehicles, presumably when new (or transferred refurbished??) 220271 is the 3rd vehicle from the left.

Hi everyone.
Hopefully this first attempt at transferring attachments works.
Here are some shots of ARN 112-803 / RRN 220-271 after picking up.

Hi Mick.
Thank you for the words of encouragement.
The words What have I done? pop up from time to time.
As usual, you don"t always see everything at the first sight.
I still think it doesn't deserve to die.
Also wondering where to post the project as I think at best it will be a restomod.

I’d just start a thread in the 2A Series section and run from there.

If you look at MY STUFF by Dennis M , there is a good example of how it’s done. There are many other examples , just spend some time navigating the forum you’ll find plenty.

Cheers,

Mick

Hi Mick.
Thanks for the advice.
I'll take some time to check out how others set up project posts and try to make it as interesting as possible.
