Plus the $48 to bid on-line and the $500 bond, OK I guess you get the $500 back.
So maximum bid $60 per pallet (6-tyres) which costs you about $126.26 plus GST (depending whether they add the handling charge before adding the 'buyer admin fee').
If you bid up to $120 it costs about $30 plus GST per tyre.

Does anyone have history on what they have sold for previously ??

HI, I bought 4 pallets at Altona last year, the vendor bid is $75 so your first bid is $100 and up $25 per bid, most pallets sold for $125 for average tyres and $200 for good tyres, 6 tyres per pallet. Remember that out of the 6 tyres 3 maybe four are OK, there are some real bad ones mixed in (and I mean not just unroadworthy but unusable!!), plan on buying twice what you need.

I'll pull out my invoice tomorrow and have a look, but from memory "just" 13.75% on top of winning bid price, + GST.

There are a lot of people (not just us) looking very closely at these tyres so no bargains.......

Cheers
Scott

Yep. I've bought a few.
My experience, about two out of the six were stuffed.
I only wanted one. The rest are getting wrapped and shelved for future use.

Thanks for the 'heads up' guys.
I might give this a miss for the time being, the FFR is some time away from needing roadworthy tyres.

Hello LR infected people. Going to Fowles tomorrow to try and win tyre lots. There are 7 50 16 and Forward Control tyres, if they go cheap will buy excess and they would be available to REMLR members.

Hi all
If you go to Fowles /Manheim be aware that the tyre pallets may contain tyres that are useless conveniently hidden on pallet. Observed many Steel treks which should not be auctioned. Also DO NOT buy by ONLINE auction as the above problem is there. Was after tyres for 2A Forward Control, these were from military LAV's i think and one stack of 4 had a huge hole in wall and was won by online bidder.

BUYER BE VERY AWARE

Thanks David.
For tyres, I've had better success with Manheim than ebay. They were more than likely 1200x20's
What size tyres are you after for the FC?

Hi Mick
Standard are 9 00 16, would like something a bit wider. The 3 pallets of 4 tyres (LAV's and OKKA )went very high and full of rope patches and bloody big holes.

Will just keep looking for a set of OKKA tyres, bit exy but about right for size i want.

Digging up a quiet thread here.
I have been looking for some tyres for my landrover, and I came across the MRF catalogue.
Anyway they have bar treads in  7.50-16 9.00-16 and 12.00-20.  I have a friend in india who has been able to get on to MRF about them and found that they are military order.  Anyway he is getting some prices for me.
So I wondered if anyone else was interested in bar treads.   If there was enough interest I might be able to organise a container.

Daniel.

I'm curious, what are you putting 9.00-16's on?  I thought about the only thing out there that used them was the FC101.
