Maitland Goal March 2005
« on: February 09, 2013, 05:21:13 PM »
Way back in 2004 ??? I was approached by a representative of the MG car club. They were having the Nationals in NSW at Maitland Goal, they were specifically looking for WW2 vehicles, but were having trouble getting people committed to being there, MG car club were willing to pay expenses etc, anyway to cut a very long story short, no-one with WW2 vehicles would commit themselves to the task, I received a troubled phone call one evening, CAN YOU HELP OUT!! please.
I made arrangements with my club to provide vehicles for them at the location, inside Maitland Goal, these images have never been on the net, I took along 4 Land Rovers & a No5 trailer

where I was parked for a moment or two is where many a soul had dropped into eternity, when capitol punishment was meted out a bit morbid but that's the way it was at the time, the next lot of images were taken in the quadrangle

everyone wanted to be either wounded or a nurse/doctor, it is possible that some of these people were employed as Medical staff somewhere LOL

anyway after a *&*^%$#E fit with the new photobucket I managed to get these online, cheers Dennis
ps time for a port n coke or 2LOL, in the 1st image, inside and behind where I was parked, it was a very tight R then L turn, I made in in one go, my wife and others had difficulty in 88" vehicles, I was complimented on my driving skills in the Bloodbox LOL,,.

:)

Good event, good examples of ex-mil Landys. They are all turned out beautifully.
Those jerry holders on Dinty are really well done. Hmmm, why didn't they do all the Landys like that?

rethe gaol, are going to sell off the land or something?

In about 1994 I visited a prisoner there. He was on the other side of a plexy panel talking thru holes that were drilled about mouth level. The strange thing was we had to surrender our motorola mobile phones before we could enter the room. Why?
