MACK RECOVERY TRUCK

The Australian army had two of these Macks, 10 Tem Regt had one pulling a special trailer that was used as a LARC 5 recovery vehicle. They were fitted with two massive drum winches dehind the cab and were powered by an V8 13ltr petrol engine.

They were all sold as a job lot to a fellow down near corowa. He then on sold them so there a few in private hands now  ;D

There's a fellow who lives near me who owns an ex- US Marines Mack wrecker. He still uses it
He told me it was one of three that made it to Australia from Vietnam.

M123 and one was sold in recent years at an auction by a well known Melbourne collector and restorer. I would like to obtain one to restore and use for transporting oversize equipment, but there may be problems registering it due to width. It may require an escort, to be driven on the roads. Perhaps others can better assist, but i would think this is one reason for them being photographed with duals removed.
