Lithgow Ironfest

The Australian Armoured Vehicles Association is planning to attend the Lithgow Ironfest to be held in the Lithgow Showgrounds from ANZAC Day through Sunday 27th April 2014.  The event is a festival of iron with displays of blacksmithing, medieval armour and reinactor groups for various periods including WWII (Allied and German).

AAVA Vehicles intending to be present:
  • M3 Stuart light tank
  • M5A1 Halftrack (IHI)
  • FV701 Ferret scout car (Daimler)
  • FV603 Saracen Armoured personnel carrier (Alvis)
  • FV601 Saladin Armoured Car (Alvis)
  • FV102 Striker CVR(T) Swingfire Anti-tank missile launcher (Alvis)
  • Land Rover 90 FFR (ex UK MoD)
  • land Rover 109 SIII FFR

Also likely to be present Matilda II infantry tank
LP2a Universal carrier.
REMLR 240.
Perentie FFR 50-422, SIII FFR 30-146, SIIA GunBuggy 112-726, Mk3 Inter 170-437, ex-SADF SIIB/SIII Radio Relay,
Army Trailers: No5 x 2, W/S x 2, PT1-1.2, Horndraulic ATR dog trailer.
Civilian: MY85 RRc HiLine 4.6, MY51 ex-RACQ 80", MY91 Defender/Reynolds Boughton 6x6, MY12 D4 SDV6

I love Ironfest, however I have another camping trip scheduled for the ANZAC long weekend :-(

God Lithow is cold.
Froze my butt off on the range behind The factory a few years ago.
The sun went down and so did the mercury!
Still had fun and would love to go back!
Yes, make sure you bring your best arctic wear!

Looks like a great event!  Oh, and the truck is a WW2 studebaker I think.
