It certainly did. That brings back memories. What is the correct name for that?

But other than colour does it look the same? I am going back almost 44years here. Everything that our unit had up there was close enough to olive drab.

The main backpack VHF radios in Vietnam were AN/PRC-77 or AN/PRC-25 which both looked externally the same, the PRC-25 still had a number of valves which is why the battery pack had multiple voltages.  It was replaced by the PRC-77 which was solid state..

The set on the left of the picture in the bottom of the vehicle frame is the F1 HF set  (AWA)

Well there you go. What is the world coming to when you can't trust Warrant Officers? He actually referred to it as the "F1 Officer Proof "radio. I don't remember that being tested. It probably didn't matter what he called them as long as we learnt the basics of using them. I have used more modern equipment in more recent times. We have come a long way since then.
I do remember someone at RAASC Centre saying that Landrovers were also "Officer Proof" which was later proven to be untrue by an officer who shall remain nameless. Mind you I could talk about some instructors.....

I had better stop telling tales.

Actually they may be officer proof, it just takes an ossifer to prove them!  8)

Sergeants run the Army, officers only think they do!
