Ok, a lot of people have asked me why the move away from AULRO.
A few things, REMLR is kinda like a rowdy teenager that needs it's own space in many ways (minus the pimples I hope). We had the ability to set up our own forums, so we thought it was about time we stopped imposing on AULRO and set up our own place.
It does come at the loss of some old threads, and I'm not sure if it is possible to bring them over from AULRO as the software used is quite different, and that is a part of forums that I am not familiar with.
However I'm sure that this is the beginning of a good thing for REMLR. I greatly appreciate the support I've had from everybody, and I hope that continues.

Any chance of slightly larger photos being uploaded 197kb for 4 is a bit hard or does anybody know a way of shrinking them down
And a thanks button for helpfull posts

microsoft office has a good inbuilt application for shrinking photos.
But i'll have a look at the limit, I wouldn't go much higher though, that is still a fair size attachment.

New headings look awesome Richard. Forum looking better by the hour ;D
Was just talking to another REMLR member who suggested a sub heading of Misc Australian Army Vehicles and Equipment (for that oddball stuff)

I was thinking of transferring certain threads over via the old 'cut and paste' method. If I do this without logging in to AULRO, I should be able to pick up the text and image link at the same time and paste into this new forum. OK, it's time consuming but it should work :)

I dont have the photos and in fact even part of the details of things I have posted over there as computers have died and been replaced but I thought they were safe...
I appreciate that they are safe (not being deleted) but we do need to access them eventually, and I am sure Im like the others, I dont care if its here (preferred) or over on aulro.
Most of all I want to say thanks to the guys losing sleep and working hard to get this thing up and running.
I would suggest that we will need to get some other bits in order, I am a subscriber on AULRO,
we need to organise the subscriber set up here and some prices and accounts etc info so we can get started subscribing here.
Richard green deserves a medal for his patience (as does his family for putting up with this!) and I am sure others here also need recognition for their work.
WELL DONE.
Now... most important bit of all... Im going back to the first third of the porn thread.... sorry I mean GUNBUGGY thread! (thanks Tommy) :)

Hi Richard - not sure where to ask this so I guess here is as good as any - any the answer might be obvious but not to me.
As we all know REMLR membership consists at two levels - the general membership of REMLR and those who are financial members and can vote at AGMs etc. Also I guess the general public with an interest are a third level.
On AULRO the general public could read the REMLR sections and there was a special closed section just for REMLR members that the public could not read.
So first question? Does the general public have access to the forum?? I think they should if they do not.
Is there a private section for REMLR members to chat and raise in-house topics as there was on AULRO. I think there should be. What would be the criteria for being able to access this area.
Cheers
Garry

A private/members area hasn't been set up yet, but the facility is available in the forum software.

I would like to echo the sentiments in this thread.
Secondly if we can't have the old REMLR threads on here, is there a way to have them as a static archive. a little bit like the S2C in the UK did with their earlier forum which ran out of room.

When you talk about subscribing are you talking about the forum or as a financial member of REMLR Inc.

A subscriber on AULRO is somebody who has a paid membership for extra photo space etc, as well as a way of supporting the forums.
A member of REMLR Inc on AULRO did have a members only area that only members could see.
Registrants of REMLR, IE those with a remlr number, can see everything on here currently, as can the general public.

G'day Richard
Is it possible to set up a link from the REMLR website to this forum. Currently if you click REMLR Forum on the website index you are taken to the old forum.

I changed that link the other day on the REMLR website. Try and refresh the page?

Just tried it again Richard but it took me to AULRO again :'(

No problems here. Could it be a cookie problem?

Spot on Mick ;) Did a 'cookie dump' and now it works. Thanks

The software exists in most forums to transfer info from one forum to another. I assume it depends on the forum software compatability as to whether it is possible to transfer the old files from AULRO...and then also on whether the owner of AULRO is in agreeance (as anything posted there is essentially his property), whether he has the time and whether he has the knowledge of how to do it.
I can see the benefit of transferring some stuff but there are also benefits in starting afresh :)
