Ferret in Sarawak with 3RAR
« on: March 26, 2014, 11:54:42 AM »
Lucky dip. Saw an AWM video of ministerial visit to 3RAR at Sarawak, 1965.

http://static.awm.gov.au/video/F03686.WMV

At time mark 05:02:27 there is 20 seconds of a Ferret, closeups, of turret moving etc. It has clear markings. British?

At time mark 05: 04:12 there are 3 Landys parked in background, hard to be sure, but they look British (double bumper Series 2?).

Its a bit hard to determine if its the British Royal Tank Corps insignia

or the Australian Armoured Regiment one

although it does most resemble the fear naught ribbon with the lack of the lances and pennants makes it most likely the British.

That a Brit ferret and the other tac plate is I think Gurka

The Royal Tank Corp insignia is very clear at 05:02:44:23

and at 05:02:33:13 bottom rh tac looks to be the Gurka tac
also a MOD registration number
