Hi,

anyone know the purpose of the Landrover Perentie Isuzu Alternator Regulator Switch Assembly mounted on solenoid. Is there a circuit description somewhere?

You're not talking about the isolation solenoid that isolates the battery when the battery voltage drops below a preset value?

Not sure - there is a picture on ebay - eBay item number:154311915027

You are suggesting that it iolates solenoid when battery is below a particular voltage so that it does not flatten battery and kill the battery.

I can't think why there would be a solenoid mounted on the alternator.
Where is it mounted in the vehicle?

Does it have a switch on the dash with a flashing or steady green light?

Or are you talking about the starter solenoid for the starter motor?
Nothing to do with the alternator regulator.
When the ignition switch is turned to the start position, it pulls in the start solenoid allowing current to flow to the starter motor which turns the diesel motor for starting.

You are right it is mounted on solenoid not alternator BRAIN FART!

Can you post up the part number or a photograph of "the Landrover Perentie Isuzu Alternator Regulator Switch Assembly mounted on solenoid" so we know what you are talking about.

My guess it is No 4 in the illustration which is a relay on the starter curcuit.
