6-cylinder engine parts
« on: December 26, 2023, 09:08:50 AM »
I've recently acquired a 6-cylinder motor that's been stripped.
Not sure everything is there so I'll keep some parts and probably sell the rest.

STD crank & big end shell bearings, motor from a civvy vehicle I understand.

Parts available :-
Block bare
Sump.
Crank.
Rods & pistons.
Exhaust manifold (I already have an NOS spare).
Head bare.
Oil cooler.

There are probably some other bits & pieces, I'll have to look through a few more boxes.

Keeping exhaust & inlet valves, oil pump, water pump plus possibly the camshaft (I haven't checked it for wear).

All those views and no replies.......

I collect another 6-cylinder motor later in the week which takes me to 3 complete and one stripped.

I need to move some on and make some room, someone must need some spares.

Gromit, whilst not an urgent need I would be interested in an oil cooler and a water pump if either is available. Thermatic fan type water pump of course.
I am in Sydney so would not be able to pick them up.

Geoff,
I've been modifying 4-cyl water pump kits and repairing 6-cyl pumps but I only have one spare that I'm keeping and don't have the time to overhaul more pumps at the moment. It's not hard if you have access to a lathe & hydraulic press although I did have to make some tooling for pressing back together.

I may have an oil cooler from a previous job lot of parts I acquired a few years ago along with NOS flexible pipes. Someone on here offered me flexible pipes when one of mine split then I ended up with a number of them.
I'll have to check the back shed at the weekend and see what's left. I know there are a number of oil cooler brackets but not sure if I sold the last oil cooler.

Colin, an unserviceable water pump will be fine as I can arrange overhaul. Oil cooler and piping would be of interest. I am surprised that no one wants an exhaust manifold. I am right for them but generally they are like rocking horse manure. Perhaps series 3s have gone out of fashion.

Geoff,
Unfortunately no waterpumps left except a spare NOS one for myself.
I was also surprised about the manifold. I do have a NOS one still in it's LR box, I noticed Series Magic have one up for sale for over $1200 !!!

I'll get back to you when I get a chance to get into the shed regarding the oil cooler & pipes.

Once I'm able to remove the camshaft the block will be scrapped.
Seems a shame but I already have 3 spare 6-cyl motors.

All the other parts listed are still available.
