buuuut

If an allied country asks for these for their army.. I bet preference will go to selling as a bulk lot "Buy your own army - 2000 perenties and all spares, $15mil"
I'm not completely useless.. I'm missing some of the pieces

It would have to be allied, as some countries would have specific blocks against export of military vehicles.  Mind you, I doubt many countries would want a 2nd hand (although good condition) fleet of vehicles, but you never know!

I can see our government going "Hey PNG, if we give you a fleet of Perenties, will you take our boat people?? Please? With 20W50 GTX2 on top?"

If you are in Brisbane and going near the airport there are plenty of rovers behind the fence in the old army stores depot on Sugarmill Road. Could be the feed lot for the next auctions.

Jordan took our Challenger 1 tanks and the fleet of Scammell Commander transporters, so a fleet of surplus Landies should be no problem to shift.  ;)

While all our attention has been focussed on Aust Frontline Machinery/ Graysonline, has there been anything interesting happening with the usual auction houses, ie Mannheim and Pickles?
Seems Mannheims are still selling vehicles and trailers: 173-587.

Might pay to drop in from time to time for a look while everyone is looking out for AFM, find yourself a bargain.

I have recently spoken to DOD with regards to a number of issues, ie When will spares be released, the question on jacks and braces etc

Heres there reply.

UNCLASSIFIED

Mr Burton,

Thank you for your emails to the Disposals Helpdesk dated 22 August and 1 September 2013. You have raised a number of specific questions which I will attempt to answer below.

As you probably are aware Ex-Defence vehicles and trailers are being sold to the public by Australian Frontline Machinery (www.australianfrontlinemachinery.com.au) through a series of online auctions. The vehicles are being released to Australian Frontline Machinery as Defence identifies them as being surplus. At the point of disposal by Defence the vehicle and trailer condition varies and, in almost every event, they are in need of mechanical work and some parts such as jacks, spare tyres and other items Defence would have fitted when the vehicle or trailer is in operational service may be missing. This could be because Defence has made a decision to keep that item to make good a deficiency in another vehicle or trailer rather than utilise a new item. Therefore, when Australian Frontline Machinery sells the vehicle or trailer the number of these items fitted varies from vehicle to vehicle.

At present there is no contract in place for the sale of Ex-Defence Landrover spare parts and until a particular fleet or sub-fleet is withdrawn from service this is unlikely to occur.

Regards,

This really is a twilight zone in relation to parts at the moment.  People want them because they have the vehicles, but defence still has thousands of them in service, and will do for probably a decade or so still.   So it is a grey area.

With regards to jacks, everything defence sells is usual as is where is, so if you get one, well done, if not, keep looking.

It has no tailights and the one of the licence plate lamps is smashed?
