Hello from NZ!
« on: May 24, 2014, 06:34:44 PM »
Gidday!
I used to be around here years ago when I had a Skippy but I took a break from Land Rovers for a few years.
Now im back into it with a 1966 88" 24v Fitted for Radio NZ32022, Plate # FD6574 and a 1965 Walker trailer (I forgot the NZ number right now)

Im keen to learn more about what radio gear would have been fitted, I still have brackets and wiring in place but no antennae mounts or ATUs or radio table or battery racks remain.
I do have the Dexion racking though.

Fill me full of info!

Cheers, Robbie.

Hello Robbie, and welcome (back) to REMLR.

You have probably already guessed as to the radio fitment by your user ID, Larkspur. As you have 161Bty tac signs, the typical fitment by Artillery units was the B48 Larkspur, although NZ Army also made wide use of the C11/R210.

And good to see a little bit of Lithgow on your vehicle.

Welcome back to REMLR, the SLR mount is certainly interesting, an original fitting?

Thanks guys, now i know what to start looking for to kit the back out, radio tables and mounts seem almost extinct in NZ though.
The SLR mount is original, Im not sure if these FFRs were CKD kits or imported fully built up but ive seen these rifle mounts on British army Land Rovers of the era.
Its hard to find any pics or info on these FFRs, seems theres not many left and those that do remain have had all the FFR bits removed so im EXTREMELY happy to have this one!

Welcome Robbie

Did the Kiwi's use the Dexion racking?  I thought that was later for the Brit Clansman range.

In Oz for Larkspur we used a wooden table mounted behind the transom.

There is a page on the Oz larkspur on the REMLR site: http://remlr.com/radio_gear_b_class.html

Including the graphic of the demountable frame.  Although in many FFT the wooden table was mounted on blocks fitted to the seat boxes.

I do know that Tim Vibert has three or four of the tables in stock when I visited there in march this year.  http://www.timvibert.com.au/

Ive seen a few pics of the dexion in place and my truck was sold off with the racking fitted but im not sure what would have been fitted originally.

Ive only seen one table up
Close and that had a 19 set mounted on it.
I will take pics of whats left of the table mounts in the back but somthing was mounted to the  seat boxes.

Thats a great diagram thank you!
