I am lead to believe that a deal has been done for the whole vehicle and in the absence of an available Rolls Royce B81, it will be refitted with a Cummins engine to the specification of the subsequent model Nubian.

There was almost a deal done where one of the diff assemblies was salvaged for another Nubian rendering this truck no more than another donor.  It seems that he who has the cash now, won the deal.

Sorry Tim, I'm not privvy to the $ value of the deal, just facilitating the contact between the two.

I don't think Ron will be able to retire on the deal but good that it's not being broken up further.

I realise this thread is fairly old now but as the owner of a Thornycroft Nubian myself I would be interested to make contact with the new owner of this unit  for networking (funnily enough, mine is also a "Unit 3", ex-RAAF Townsville). I'm trying to get a restoration project off the ground.

Hi Christian welcome to the forum we several people who are familiar with the Nubians. If you post up under miscellaneous vehicles you should get some info don't know about that specific one but ron101 and a few others have owned them

Hi Christian

The new owner is a member of this forum but I'll leave it to him to announce it or not.  He lives not too far from the Temora Aerodrome but I don't know if that has anything to do with his acquisition.
