Oil for the old trucks

Wondering what everyone uses when it comes to lubrication, I have been recommended to use
Shell Valvata j460   or
BP gear oil 140.  The transfer and gearbox require a non ep (sulfur) oil.
The shell oil being a steam oil only comes in 250ltr drums which is no good, so im looking for something else.

I used castrol 80-140 in the front/rear diffs and front swivel housings.

My local castrol dealer recommended the following:

EPX85W/140 (diffs + steering box)
EPX80W/90 (gearbox, transfer case, winch)

hopefully they were right?

I am interested as to why the non sulfur oil is recommended for both the gearbox and transfer case, I would presume the felt & leather seals might be affected by the sulfur, I cant think of anything in the gearbox which would prevent modern oils from being used. I would be very interested in any informed opinion.

Castrol epx80-140w is what i decided to get in the end, I personally think any oil is better than no oil!
Draining the diff oil was more interesting than buying it....
Rear diff drained 100ml very black, refilled 3.6L
front diff drained 3ltr, refilled 5L
tracta joints took atleast 500ml
Quite sad im worried about it so much considering the refill volumes compared to draining.....

For the transfer and gearbox I looked at the penrite guide for a ab inter and they recommended engine oil, i then rang castrol technical and they recommended castrol tfc-450 or sae engine oil as there non sulfur oils. Tfc is used in road rangers and gearboxes with soft metals...

I also asked red and he uses BP gear oil or shell valvata j140.

Im guessing the non ep (sulfur) is used for the soft metals or seals?
