Rear (side) seat material in FFR
« on: March 20, 2013, 12:02:07 AM »
Does anyone know if the original material is still available for these seats? It's tonneau/soft top type material and different to the front seats. A visit to my auto trimmer has drawn a blank but I did get a good match in seating vinyl, just different grain.

cheers, Daryl

Have you tried Daley's?  They are based in NSW with branches in Vic, SA, WA and Qld.  http://www.daleys.com.au/products/12

The spirit milennium has a wide range of colours, the other option is the discontinued lines.  We used to get the same green as used on NSW Government Railways for S1 Landies.

As you realise, every batch of a product will have a slightly different colour, so you are best to re-trim the whole car or at least the whole area like all the rear seats.

A few people have compe close to the correct vinyl colour, but close is probably as good as you will get, and redoing all of the seats at the same time is a good option for it all to match.

Thanks for the replies. hadn't heard of Daleys so will Google them and find out. I'm not so worried to match the front and back seats as they don't now.The fronts are green vinyl and look original whereas the backs are tonneau material and also look original, albeit v.cracked and split.

cheers

Hi Daryl,

the FFR has 2 x single (tiny) radio operator seats in the back, positioned above the small tool box lids, the GS had 4x 2 person seats in the back, I'll show you when you come and visit, given that there is variation in materials (texture, colour ect) so whilst trying to be period accurate you have a lot of tollerance, so as Pheonix said best to all seats at once in a close match to original, that way they should all match.

Now if you want to talk S3 front seats that gets even more confusing!, low back/high back/pleated/plain/black/green.........

cheers
