101 at Greysonline Yard- Perth
« on: March 19, 2013, 09:13:35 PM »
There is a 101 in the Greysonline yard, Welshpool Rd, Perth at the moment. Enquiries show that the vehicle will be coming up for sale soon. Greysonline have a strict policy that no person is allowed to view vehicles unless it is during the advertised inspection period so I was unable to get any closer :(.

I believe it may be the British import 101 as used by a lawnmowing contractor around the suburbs of Perth.

Gee that was quick Mick. I only took the photo last Thursday. The lady in the office said that she did not know when the 101 was going up for sale.

$25 000 appears to be a high price don't you think?

When you consider the GS in Harcourt is $20k and it has a trailer, yes, $25k for the ambulance appears to be high.
However, if you're after an Ambulance.................
It's value would also depend on what is in the back. Is it fully kitted out or stripped bare?

It didn't sell. I'm not surprised.

Add the 10%GST and 7% buyers premium and the total purchase price would have been $29 500 :(

Doesn't surprise me either. There are a couple out there on the market at the moment that represent better value.
I often get inquiries as to whether I would sell one of mine to them. I have four or five buyers lined up for each. The problem is, they are the type of buyer who would offer nowhere near the asking. To avoid conflict I just say "Not for sale". If someone rang me up and offered a million dollars, I'd say we could negotiate a sale from there.
It's all about how much you want a 101.
I really wanted mine. I'd love to have the one in Harcourt.

That's not a lot of money for a 101. That's a lot of money.

$30k for a 101? No. That is not a lot of money. There have been a few that have sold for around that and more.
It depends on what is being offered for sale. I've even seen a few 101's that the owners purchased them for between $2k and $5k.
I read somewhere you have one on the way over. I'll give you $2k for it, after all, That's all you would expect for a mid seventies Landrover.
Having said that, Tommy's mid sixties LRPV's should be worth less.
But, they're not. They're something special. You have to pay a premium for special.
Most of the people wanting to buy one of mine are expecting to pick them up for around $5k, after all, they're doing me a favour.

The 101, the topic of this thread, in my opinion is worth around $12k to $17k. It depends on how much original equipment remains. Would I buy it? No. I think the one in Harcourt represents better value.

I actually think that vehicle is only worth $10K to $12K.

It is an ambulance which are less sought after in Aust because our army never had them and the fact they are fat, heavy and lumbering. Note most 101s converted to campers in Aust are from GSs rather than Ambulances though there are more GSs in Aust than ambulances. Having said that though a good, unmolested Ex UK ambulance with its kit is probably only worth a bit less than a Aust Army GS in similar condition.  However if someone wanted an ambulance then they would likely pay a bit more.

The example for sale meets none of the above - the inside of the rear is crap, the cabin area is crap with stuff all pulled out.  This is probably indicative of the rest of the vehicle.

Just like any old army landie, a version that is fully registered, roadworthy and runs well is worth a lot, lot more than the typical example that is offered for sale that is in poor condition.  Unfortunately buyers seem to remember the price of the crap and expect to only pay that for the good stuff.

Point taken. I didn't realise it had been gutted.

When it was up on Greys it showed pics of the inside - the rear had a dodgy home mate camper conversion and the dash area had all its wiring pulled out - was really in a sad state.
