Steve, now you will experience the secret handshakes and regalia of REMLR.
(This is not on the website and kept out of our public history story)

...the Grand Initiation Task is to answer a REMLR riddle of the ages:

The REMLR tac sign colours, red and yellow, were selected

(A)
because they are the same as the low range and high range transfer knobs?

(B)
because they are the same as the Royal Lifesaver colours and REMLR members save old Landys?

(C)
because they are the same colours as the Vietnam War era 'Red Rat' 1st Australian Task Force tac?
http://www.hq1atf.org/reunion-2012.htm

(D)
because they are the same colours as the Royal Australian Armoured Corps (RAAC)...

(E)
because 1960s Sidchrome Tools were also Made In Australia, used at pressed Metal Co in Sydney to assemble CKD Landys, and Sidchrome toolboxes were sold in red and yellow?

Hmmm I didn't realise my Gunbuggy Emmett is 50 this year too!  8)

As for the REMLR tac, the red rats were usually just red on what ever background they were stenciled (including LBJ's Air Force One) they only got yellow on the 1ATF tac, it's not RAAC, because every tanky knows its blood over sand, the way REMLR has it its sand over blood meaning dead and buried!  I don't want to think about people in silly caps wearing waaay too small budgie smugglers!  :o

That only leaves one option.

Yeah, its the knobs.
Bonus GIT points for thinking it all thru -- High range over Low range. :)

I was about to say, the REMLR tac was always about high and low range, not the blood over sand.

As My dad used to say to me....

" they put a knob on the end of it, so your hand doesn't slip off"

I didn't realise he was referring to land rover's.
