Hi. Can still  buy reflectors new from Hella.  I bought indicator lenses new from a trailer manufacturer in Ballarat last week so they are around.

Cheers

The original blinkers on a No.5 should be Lucas L488

But lots of people fit the L594 amber lenses beacuse they can be seen from the side.

Try Anthony Pearson at Classic & Vintage Bulbs in Adelaide.  He can also supply halogen bulbs for the original SIIa headlamps.  http://www.classicandvintagebulbs.com/page2.html  Email: acpearson@chariot.net.au

Great info, thank you both.

I'm leaning towards second hand items because they'd blend in and look correct with what's already on the trailer.

If I go sticking a flash new lense or reflector on it, then it would "look" out of place, and might lead to me having to strip and restore the entire trailer, which is what I'm trying to avoid at the moment.

1x lens turns into 2x lenses, usually complete with assemblies, and would probably be LED to match my SIII, and then the wiring would need to be redone, and then a sealed enclosure would need to be installed to keep the wiring block (new of course) clean...

Then the tub would have to come off and be done, then the chassis and axle/springs etc, etc.

This is how it all starts...and I'm stubbornly trying to avoid that.  ???

Just today the wife again lodged application for a repaint of the trailer, she wants it done to match the vehicle  :o but I've skillfully managed to persuade her into letting me leave it as is...

I like how it looks right now, except for the rims...for they appear to be Defender rims and I'd like to either upgrade my SIII to match those, or source a pair of correct SIII rims for the trailer.

If I did a rebuild on it, which I do know I should do, I'd opt to repaint it back to olive green I think.

But I like the camo...  :'(

Just wasted the last couple hours looking at the option of vinyl wrapping my SIII in camo to match the trailer...though I do concede it to be a waste of time as the sherrif despises camo and refuses to allow it...I already know because I've tried in on a few times now and it's never gone over too well... :-\

The amber L594 lamps were fitted to Minis from 1960 through to the Clubman in the 1970s, so you can often get them second hand from a wrecker with an appropriate pattina.

An option for reflectors is to unscrew some from an old roadside marker post!  (Not that I'd advocate that.)

They were clear.
The Coopers had the orange ones and are therefore rarer and more sought after. They were also used as rear indicator lenses on early Mokes up to and including the first of the big wheelers (13" rims) in 1969. There were some pLASTIC VERSIONS MADE

And many were replaced by amber on many Minis because of the requirement for amber blinkers.

L594 Amber = Lucas Part 576108
Austin A35, A95, A108, Sheerline, Gypsy,
Daimler Majestic
Jensen 541, 541R
Triumph TR3,

And I haven't even started on vehicles made after 1959.

As I said Anthony Pearson usually has them in stock, usually glass but also plastic. when I bought the complete assemblies for my No.5 they arrived in a couple of days.

Yep. Got a few. Got heaps of the clear ones. Got a few red ones as well. All spares for my '68 Moke. THE CLEAR ONES ARE FOR MY '68 mINI dELUXE (NOT A cOOPER SO IT HAS THE CLEAR LENS.
(OH.BY THE WAY, i'M having trouble with the keyboard at the moment. It didn't like the coffee and biscuits.)
A little story about the amber lenses on Coopers.
Back in the late sixties, a fellow I know had a Cooper. Mr plod fined him for having amber lenses. On the mini, the parker and indicator are the same lens. Apparently, it was illegal to have amber parkers according to Mr Plod.
The fellow I know went to court with documentation and the salesman. Fine was dropped. Could be true. Could be a campfire story (that's where I heard it).

Well you could use the Chrysler Valiant as an example.  The 1971 VH series has white side lamps and white front blinkers in the same lamp.  The ADR required amber flashers, so the 1973 VJ series had almost identical lamps now in amber so the side lamps were amber as well.
