Welby is just catching up with the misleading press statements and news reports.... all old news.

Just google a few articles and you'll see what I mean.

Cheers.

I applied to relevant people and asked for one.
:)
I received all of the documentation and a cover letter outlining the requirements and the cost.

Well, so much for the generous gift touted in the press release.

"Hundreds of ex-military vehicles have been gifted to the RSL for use on Anzac Day.

The 200 Land Rover off-road cars have been used by thousands of soldiers in Timor-Leste, Solomon Islands, Bougainville, Sudan, Afghanistan and Iraq.

"The Land Rover will be remembered fondly by soldiers as a tough and rugged vehicle and can now be used to transport veterans at remembrance and other services," Veteran's Affairs Minister Darren Chester said on Friday"

Guess they won't be putting out another saying that it is actually  NOT  being given to the RSLs...

I see all the lifting rings are being hacked off in this latest auction....  A never ending knee jurk reaction by some idiot making stuff up as they go and applying it restrospectively to vehicles already ADR'd.

Yep, went to Minto had had good look around. New paint, mud still splattered around on the chassis... and then, the abomination of cut off lift points! Crikey. I asked the bloke 'why' and he said the RMS (NSW Roads and Maritime Services) require it. I guess that's in relation to the bloke issuing the blue slips - even the Unimogs and Macks have protrusions removed (and in the back to be refitted I suppose), but to butcher the Land Rovers and then cover the raw metal with paint is not on.

I'm not trying to talk down the prices, but it's bureaucratic nonsense.

Matt

PS. A few dripping oil too (rear main / front seal), with each sprayed in fresh paint - hubs, wheel nuts, window glass.... I'd bet the blue/brown slip fella didn't drive each vehicle as required. To finish my rant, the compliance plate says the vehicle complies with all regulations on the date of the plate being issued - lift hooks and all. So to say they're not allowed means the compliance plate is no longer valid. That and modifying a chassis (cutting bits off) usually requires an engineering signatory to say the modification is compliant. It's annoying. I'm going to have a lie down now.

As ever, it will depend on where and how a person gets their "blue/pink" slip I'm afraid - some owners in WA have had to face this from the time they purchased them. They were able to install a larger diameter temporary bar between the lift points which, apparently acceptably (!), reduced the protusion.

It is difficult to not be cynical.

Really! they're auctioning them with roadworthies now. They didn't when I bought mine.
Didn't need much for a roadworthy, though.

Just on the bull bars, I have a Territory. I tapped a roo and Shannons decided to write off the vehicle despite the damage being minimal.
The vehicle needs a VIV which means an inspection by Vicroads.
To prevent me having to go through this bull**** again (I tap a roo about once a year.) (The Commodore and Camry stood up to these incidents but modern cars that are made from tinfoil don't.), I had a new ECB bull bar fitted a couple of weeks ago.
I have been informed verbally this new bull bar may not pass the Vicroads inspection. They tell me this is because of new bull bar regulations recently adopted. I'm trying to find out what these new regulations are.
Maybe this is because of the new regulations?
