There are stocks still in storage at JLU West, I'm told a number have been transported east though.

no comment as to the reason.

I'm also told the remaining RFSV's here are not expected to be listed for quite some time, citing 'operational requirements'.

What is the process to register a vehicle with no compliance plate ?
Anybody gone through the process in Victoria ?
Or is it easier to get one with a compliance plate ?

Cannot answer for VIC - sorry.

In NSW it's not currently a problem - AFM should supply a confirming letter with the "blue slip" which enables NSW registration.

If I was in another state, as you are, I would check with the registration authority before buying just to be sure.

Long term when the buyer may want to resell, a potential purchaser may think it is a problem if the vehicle is, at that point, unregistered. Depends on how good the registration authority's records are I guess.

That letter would be one you would have to be careful to keep a copy of I reckon .

 Its one thing to get the rules from Vicroads, but its proberly another to show up with the vehicle, thats why I was hopeing to hear from somebody in Victoria who has gone through the process.

There was an FFR in the last auction that was stated to be without compliance plate but the photos showed a compliance plate with the correct details was fitted. Anyone know which was correct?

I think this is a good idea. We already have two ACT aged care complexes with a Perentie on display in the front under a carport next to a flagpole, one in Curtin and another at Lyneham. There may be others I have not seen.

The actual media release behind the "news story" from the ADF also clues us into exactly is respraying the current crop of Land Rovers for the AFM auctions:

"The Land Rovers are being refurbished by 22 Broadspectrum mechanics and spray painters at the Defence site at Bandiana in North East Victoria."

Also, the newspaper missed this great quote:

"Mr Chester said Australia has a rich history of service of the Land Rover 4x4 fleet and was pleased to know this legacy would live on for decades to come."

Those RSL members may have to have high costs for parts to maintain their fleet. Thats good news for those stashing away spare parts and charging prices as if they are investments. Maybe they can donate the parts and get tax writedowns instead..

I recently purchased a original Perentie FFR part from feebay that was unavailable at LRA. It cost me $22 ( $6 more than dealer price ) plus $10 shipping from SEQ. The next day the same seller priced the same item at $40 !! but (headslap) ... a couple of days later it was $60 !!  I still haven't left a feedback comment on that deal. (My feedback is low on stock so prices have just increased to $100).
