The F1 with Abbey Crane and the Mk4 were all in the AAMME collection AFAIK have not had the brake shoes replaced since the 1990's so may need to be remediated.  Although they are still adjusting the LTE in the collection and having the Abbey crane working and available could be useful for re-positioning items on display, so it could be a case of re-considering the disposal.  The issue would be storage space for the F1.

I'd love to get hold of one of the F1's with the Abbey cranes. I notice there are only 33 listed in the ARN list though, and I bet the ones still in existence would be hard to get hold of.
Anyone have an idea of a rough price range I would expect to pay? I realise it would vary with the condition, but even a rough idea would be good.
Also, I see in the ARN list that they still have the winch. How is the crane driven? Is there a difference with the transfer cases or do they have a separate engine for the hydraulics?
Actually, I just realised that although they are probably powered the same way the tipper hoists on the F2's are, I have no idea how. Anyone able to explain please?

Greg.

powered by a pto off the gearbox , winch is off transfer case same as the F2, the last one I saw sold went for about $13000.00 it was complete & good mechanically but had a post service perkins engine and required a fair bit of work on the cab.

Ah thanks for that. It makes sense now.
I suppose you would put the transfer case in neutral and leave the engine running in first or second, using the hand throttle to set the revs, and operate the crane from outside.

Looking at buying a 110 out of Sydney as a lot more choice then whats been offered in Perth, does any one know of mechanics doing inspections of specified vehicles at the auctions upon request.

Could they legally sell these without windscreens? Are there doors behind the sidemounted spares? No doors = legal issue????
I currently own a Jeep Wrangler and I know all about trying to run a vehicle without doors!!!!!!

I'm in love too, but just trying to be a realist  :(
