I am chasing the prices off that last sydney auction; it ended when I was on shift. I'd like an old number 5 trlr. In the morning of sale day the prices were from 400 to 600. And how much were the panel van 110 at the end?

409 to 609. I paid 609 for mine. There didn't seem to be any one bidding at the last minute as they all closed at 1645 your time.
Brian. Must be 13 years since I faxedyou the REMLR form with LRPV. How time flies.

Do you want me to shorten the journey?

I need to add som Ks to the D4 before the end of March lest I put myself in another FBT bracket, I could perhaps take it to Wagga Wagga or even Mildura and you can take it on from there.  The fuel is in the lease.

I am on leave from Christmas Eve till the 5th Jan.

Diana

I'm planning to go to Mildura/Broken Hill then Adelaide b/w Christmas New year

Diana, we might be able to meet up go out to dinner swap over trailer and I can get it to Adelaide

Regards
Scott

That could work, although I was hoping to run the trailers two-up on my electric braked float, so we need to work out what Brian (B 52) is planning to do about rego or UVP on one of the trailers for the rest of the journey.

Hi to you all. I'm not due back at work until 7 Feb so anytime after Christmas I can head off across the Nullarbor. I'd drive the Mk 4 but I don't think the servo's would carry enough fuel.
I would like to thank all of you for any assistance with these trailers. Living in Kalgoorlie is great but it's a hell of a long way to anywhere east of here.
The plan is to set up the 110 FFR and 154 403 as a comms setup for cadet activities. The trailer will have 2 11x11's water jerries and stores and the FFR will have a UHF base station, 2 77 sets mounted in the vehicle (160 set I believe) and my comfy bed.I'm over sleeping on rocks. 33 495 will be attached to the 10LH FFR for the moment. I was looking forward to having a peek at Cookies shed but maybe another day if this goes according to Diana's plan. I have two trailers capable of carrying the no5's but will have to fit a lunette to one.

Measured up two trailers today and I'm pretty sure I can load both onto the deck of the float, so a more stable load at D4 speeds.  If I go to Mildura they won't need Rego till they are out of NSW, however given that we have a blue slip a unregistered vehicle permit can be obtained before the journey.

I now have the dogs to look after till the 28th so can leave after that and be in Mildura on the 29th or any other day up to the 4th Jan.

Brian (and Scott) it's up to you to make the decision if you want me to do the trip.  I happy either way.

Ohh, now that opens a can of worms!

Is an UVP issued to A Person, or for A Vehicle? If someone were to get a UVP in NSW for a vehicle and drive it (or move it on a trailer) to someone else halfway to then continue the journey, does the 2nd person require a new permit issued in their name?

And I understand a NSW UVP is not valid within WA.:

Brian would have to get a temp permit from the Dept of Transport here in WA. Costs $16.50 (last time I checked) for 48 hours.

Lots of eastern state things are not legal in WA, HCRS for example.  You'd think they were part of a separate country.

I don't need the trailers registered when they are a load on my fully registered float, but whomever takes them on will need the one riding on the road registered or on a permit.

AFAIK the permit is issued to the vehicle, at least thats what happened when I bought the SADF SIIB from Tasmania, the permit was arranged by the vendor which allowed me about a week to get it to Sydney. In any case I can operate as Brian's representative to the RMS under the same conditions as I picked up the trailers.

I have 2 trailers, 1.9 x 4.4 and 1.85 x 3.0. (internal) They should both be big enough to carry both trailers. Permits are issued to the vehicle rather than a person in WA and I'm sure SA and NSW would be the same.  i'm adding a ball tow hitch and making an adapter for the electrics to 48 964 so that I can bring a trailer with me. My original thought had been to put one upside down on the other. What is the legality on towing one behind the other?
When I drove the FFR across I was told the one permit was valid all the way to my home address which was written on the permit. As it happened I had a valid permit for WA because I got one one prior to going to Sydney. They can be got online and a printed copy isn't required, just a record of the number.

Hi Brian

The 33-945 trailer is currently cohabitating with 154-403 and my 173-159 (just next to the buggy).

However we are a little concerned about the stability of two trailers one atop the other.  Putting two trailers with the lunette on the deck we can push the two trailers together so there is about 2050mm between the axle centres.  The length of a No.5 from the centre of the wheel to the tip of the lunette is 2267mm so as long as you have about 4300 from the back of the trailer deck to the behind the trailer ball coupling you should be able to double up the two on a trailer. My float is designed for 88" Landies with a 109 in an emergency, so provided it is longer tha mine you should be O.K.
