Also today I rubbed an old high range knob. Began a very faded filthy yellow and now its much better.

This is a family-friendly forum, no need for your filth here  ;D

He's a shocker isn't he?

I can just see him now - rounding up the cherry wine flavoured prawns in an amphibious GS...

On a serious note, Carzee, what did you use to recover the colour in the knob? 1000 grit paper?

When I did my S3's, I just used a brass wire brush and then a polishing wheel I think. Was about a year ago, so I cant really remember, it just surprised me at how easy it was to get it looking far better.

You should be able to do them on a buff wheel, like they have in shoe repairs.  It's a wheel you put on the bench grinder.

After finishing, use some bees wax to maintain the shine.  Also good for dull plastic lamp lenses.

Yeah, 400 then 600 then 1200.... in the kitchen sink. :) Getting a shed is a slow, grindingly slow and long series of annoying activities - a simple strategy game that achieves a desired outcome. We'll see what finally hits the mark; could be reverse flushing the radiator in the shower.

Draining that sump on your rear deck would probably be a contender, too.

Especially if I get a diesel...

Today I went to Costco and got some bright orange USA hand cleaner. And some drill bits. And... a big birthday cake for Kay (tomorrows the big day). When we got home the weather had fined up so Maya's tub got some attention. Hoops off. The tub is in the carport after Maya got towed out the driveway, out of the way, then back again. Vroom vroom.

Also Maya's seatbox, ute bulkhead and tent pole box came off so the fuel tanks and brake lines can be done. And also the Salisbury rear end... And also... a load of jobs...

What a great place to flush the radiator......never would have thought off it myself.

What's this about a Sals rear end?
Do you have one, or is it on the wish list?

Hi Cookey, I had decided to go Salisbury, which means getting a S3 rear prop (since I have to buy new props anyway). I think I remember that right. Dennis told me around new year. Dennis had a spare Salisbury stored somewhere for me.

When we do it is the next question. I'd like to do another parts run north with the trailer, as soon as convenient after Corowa is out of the way.  :)

The tub is still on the (very handy) table frame but it is now on the concrete  - its off the trailer. So the trailer is available for another run.

Here is the stretched GS Landy...

Just one point.  There are two lengths for Salisbury diff prop shafts, the 4cyl and the 6cyl.  This is because the gearbox in a 6cyl is further to the rear.  So what you need is a SIII 4cyl prop shaft.

I have a couple of prop shafts in my garage but not sure what they're off so if someone can measure a known SIII 109 shaft I may be able to work out which ones I have.

Put on some rubber gloves (I have some bandaids on at the moment) and got stuck into sorting a ice cream tub of diesel soaked nuts and bolts etc. Also I spent time carefully separating a rear diff light from its mount after 40 to 50 years work under the chassis. The bulb is still good because the rubber seal is still good.
