ARN111-387 is alive and well in Queensland
« on: April 18, 2026, 07:42:53 PM »
Hi everyone,

I have been the proud owner of ARN 111-387 for a couple of years now. After a full restoration, she?s finally registered and back on the road!    8)

According to the register, she left the Army in 1983. Since then, she's lived quite a life and at some point, a Holden 202 was installed, 3.54 diffs were added, and a roof and sides were fitted. She spent about a decade working on a farm in NSW before moving to Queensland, where she worked on a smallholding until the engine eventually seized, and she then sat under a tree near Dalby for 22 years until I rescued her for $2,500.

I have since converted her back to a Land Rover 2.25L engine, though the rest of the drivetrain remains. The only new panels are the wheel arches; the original "Army cut-outs" were beyond repair, so I sourced second-hand civilian arches from a 1960 Series 2 at a Sunshine Coast scrapyard.

I have searched the internet extensively, but haven't found any army photos of 111-387 in service. If anyone has leads on where I might find some, I would be incredibly grateful.

Here she is today:

I have a website and you can see the full restoration gallery at https://www.thelandyrover.com. The big plan is to set off next September for a "bit of a drive" - from Brisbane all the way to Birmingham, UK and hopefully to the Land Rover factory.  I just need the house to sell first.
