Woomera CRV-7 Mirage Trial

Not Land Rover per se but interesting none the less. The trial did involve at least one S2A army FFT as a target.

In 1989 the RAAF trialed the Canadian CRV-7 air to ground rocket system at the Woomera range. Must have been successful as it is still in use today on the F-18.

Perhaps it was hush then, but 50 years have gone by... Notice the North orientation. Why slant a map like that?

Perhaps the map is oriented to grid north and the indicated north is true north?

Don't know but grid, true and magnetic north would not vary by that much.

If you look of the inset map of the airfield, it would appear that the main map is orientated to allow both to fit together.

That orientation would be difficult to work with until you were used to it my mind always puts Grid, True and mag north at the top of the map. Generally less than 10 full degrees between them

notice that the center line of the range runs horizontal, it is regularly marked by tracking points heading to WA
