Parakeet 6x6 GS
« on: July 03, 2022, 11:31:52 AM »
Morning all,

I have been asked to reproduce the Nomenclature Plate for a Bushranger 6x6 GS from 1998.

Specifically the Parakeet version.

The original plate was missing when it was sold at auction.

Does anyone out there have one of these vehicles?

A photo of the Nomenclature Plate would be terrific, failing that, I need the Liability Code Number and the CAPO Number for it.

Any help greatly appreciated, my research so far has drawn a blank.

Cheers,

Mike.

Hi Mike.

I dont think a Bushranger/Parakeet nomenclature exists ?  I would have thought he would require a standard 6x6 Cargo, with Bushranger contract number (or whatever they use) on his nomenclature plate

Parakeet specific vehicles (6x6 twin cab, 6x6 Cargo and 4x4 FFR) were purchased under the Perentie contract and have an ARN commencing with 200-XXX.

However, any 6x6 Cargo converted into a flat bed could carry a Parakeet module and very often did. The same goes for the FFR..... any of those could carry the Parakeet Combat Net Radio Interface (CNRI).

Cheers,

Pete

Fair enough Pete,

I’m a bit of an amateur with the Perentie at this stage.

The ARN list specifies Parakeet, and the vehicle was built in 1998 with a 202- ARN, so I was wondering what the contract number was, and if it’s the same as the earlier 6x6 GS vehicles. Probably not in this case??

If there isn’t a published list of contract numbers somewhere, then I am down to finding a vehicle of the same specification and going from there I guess,

Any info greatly appreciated, we want to get this correct.

Cheers,

Mike.

G'day Mike, I think you will find that none of the later parakeet ones built onder the Bushranger scheme have a plate. Mine is en ex parakeet and 9/98 build and it came without one and ho holes in seatbase where it would normally go.
Cheers,

Brian

Thanks Brian,

That would explain it then!

Just confirming, no Nomenclature plate at all?

I can remember in 1995 some of 6x6 went to 1 base wksp to have bodies removed so that they could have different configuration added to them as it was cheaper than getting JRA to do it

bushranger were sent to the base workshop to have the trays removed because it was cheaper than getting jra to remove them as it was an extra
