37-232 Late No5.
« on: January 10, 2022, 10:33:30 AM »
I’ve just about finished a refurb on 37-232.

This is one of the last No.5’s made, ( in fact the 3rd last) manufactured at Maribyrnong in 1983.

It has a few interesting details, including individual Lucas 488 lights, the Data plate on the rear crossmember and a CAPO plate on the front.

Interesting that they went back to the 5 lights configuration instead of the single stop/ tail light. I have seen a 1970 trailer with these as well, but most of the Number 5s (except the early ones) had the large combined light on the right side with the metal ‘bucket’ protector.

Now back in the original olive drab, still with a few in service dings etc.

Hi Mike,
More quality work we’ve grown to expect from you Mike.

Nice job.

I reckon you need to restore a trunk next 👍

Thanks Frank,

Appreciate your comment there, a lot of Number 5’s are currently being ‘upgraded’ by their Japanese 4x4 owners.

Big wheels, cut bodywork and really high CG roof tents etc….

Very happy to preserve this one as it came out of Maribyrnong.

Cheers,

Mike.
