51-943 and thanks
« on: June 27, 2021, 09:41:23 AM »
Hi all,
We are currently getting immersed in 51-943 from 16 AD regiment a 6x6 GMV. She has 231 000 on her but a thorough service history . Our thoughts were vehicles are normally better if they are used a bit so we took a punt.
Although our Perentie knowledge was minimal both my wife and my families have or still have Land Rover history.
A great bonus with some of our savings for a house build being redirected, lol.
A huge thank you for the forum and I have been studying intently, I will revamp the 24 volt system and use it splitting down to 12 v if needed for the odd non 24 volt appliance.
We want to keep her original but make a  minimal camper using a false wall once the rear door is raised which will be a door , window and shower external unit.
The Uni strut system in the floor will be used to fasten all items items.
Preservation of the original is important to us.
We hopefully have a left seat coming as there is not one in her. Also working on no dash lights and map lamp.
The dimmer switch is new and I am currently in the wiring searching hopefully for an earth misplaced.
All of my work on the truck is sourced from the forum so a big shout out with thanks to all.
I think we are both are totally involved in the new Landy.
Safe fun driving and good vibes from us.

Thanks Sixty, a lot of kilometres travelled. Any particular roles or regions. I am impressed with the upkeep of her.

Thanks Sixty, I am getting used to the lingo. GM 120 is the “log book” entry stuff. I have been reading it over a few times now? After 2018 there are no entries,  I was wondering pages missing, or has the maintenance Schedule gone to electronic file. I thought also she could have been parked and left. FRT? I was wondering what this meant please. Thanks for your input.
We have named her Aggie (Agatha)

Evening,
No, whilst there will be an electronic record, the logbook should still have entries up until it left service.

Yes. 16AD was one of the first to get new vehicles.
I bought my FUV way back in 2014 and it wasn't the first FUV to be auctioned.
