In 2016 my friend Wayne was recommended to get Tough Dogs shockies. KLR used them. Wayne reported they were good so I got a set. The adjustable setting is very effective, certainly good around town but then set sofyer for corrugations and it rides beautifully. The setting dials are a pain to reach though as you usually get down in the dirt. Nowadays there are better designs with the adjustment setup in easy reach.
Expensive shocks but over the long term...

Also consider new modern front turrets that let you inspect or hose off those rubber bushes easily.
