New wiring harness routing
« on: April 21, 2021, 04:51:24 PM »
Hi Guys,

does anyone have a photo or photos of their harness routing in the engine bay. I stupidly removed the old harnesses without noting or taking shots of the actual routing, particularly the Temp/Cold Start/Oil press harness on the RH side of the engine. Also if your shot includes the direction from the Tail harness up vertically to connect with the Main harness. I have successfully installed the Tail harness thru the RH Chassis rail but when it comes up vertically is a little trickier.

I found the VinWire harness very good, had a few little issues such as shorter wires in some cases (eg Oil Press, Main Fuse block wires) and the little labels are also very fragile (when pulling harness into place, plus the harness does not appear to take into consideration the Oil Pressure gauge (OK for the idiot light).

The instruction were generally good, easy to follow except for "connects to X on the Flasher unit/can" which is not marked on the Hella Flasher can fitted.

Cheers,

Barra

G’day Barra,

I’ll grab a few for you, hopefully tomorrow.

If you still have the old loom, make a note of the positions for the metal clamps that keep the loom attached to the bulkhead.

Cheers,

Mike.

Hi Mike - great idea re old loom & clamp positions, will check that today. How did you go with the photos of your harness positions?

Cheers,

Barra

Hi Barra,

Here are some photos of the 68 GS, apologies for the delay, a bit busy here currently!

It’s a bit hard to get any good clear photos, but here goes.....

These are from the Engine bay side, hopefully showing the clamp positions.

There are 2 holding the harness to the inner vertical part of the bulkhead, and the loom is long enough here to loop around once before it is connected up.
