RFSV Long Arm Mirrors

Hi Everyone,
I was surveying my RFSV for rust to clean up this spring and noticed an O-ring peeking out of my side view mirror arm.  I have an extra set of mirrors so I thought I'd just replace one set with the other.   as it turned out, the second pair was in the same condition.  So, I pulled them apart.

Not earth shattering photography, old grease, 7 springs, and ball bearings.   

The O-ring is approximately 44.5mm ID, 51mm OD, 3.1mm Thick, Nitrile rubber and R30 O-ring appears to be a good replacement.

I hunted around for a replacement black plastic cap and found something that fits on Amazon.

I will be media blasting and repainting the mirror arm, mounting bracket then replacing the pair on my vehicle.

The original plug for the 6x6 and RFSV/SRV-SF long arm mirrors is made by kelvindale, they are still available to buy.

Kelvindale also make a few other products found on the Perentie & Bushranger build vehicles, such as the rear chassis plugs for the 6x6 being a BP-2”

I recently acquired a pair of these longer mirror arms and they are used and need repainting. If they end up close to your result I will be very happy.
My question after looking at the fixing is how do you undo that strange looking multi edge "nut" on the bottom? I assume you have to get it undone to remove and inspect? Special tool time?

My nuts and bolts were all standard metric hardware.  Post a photo of what you have?

Well, initial search for a parts drawing... no luck. Looks like no one in the history of mankind ever looked inside one before, std. length or ext. length. I only have the bare upper arms, no bearings etc, and I assumed they would attach to the std. lower MTC5083 mount.
