The Duke and The Queen have been such a constant in our lives. Maybe not so for the younger ones.
As a schoolkid we attended the local sportsground when there was a Royal Tour. I recall it was a RR Phantom or some such going around us. Later we went on a couple of Duke of Edinburgh weekend bushwalks. The first was very memorable in the back of the Watagans walking out to Burragurra rock meeting up with transport (3 speed shortwheelbase early Patrol) at Mogo Hill (from memory - I will check the google map). My first and only experience of a sort of bottomless sand in a creek crossing. Scary.
