Ah yes, I have  a mate who is ex US Marine Corp, he volunteers his time rebuilding Tanks (ex - armour corp), I can't tell you where they are located except that they are in the US, still in the hands of the US military, I would like one complete but that's never going to happen, I'm not even going to waste time even asking/looking into it, maybe I should sell my gunbuggy to him, then at least it would be a complete unit albeit on the other side of the globe, cheers Dennis

Anyone thought about getting a replica made up?
It's just that I know where there are three (not a long way from me) and it might be possible to run a tape measure over them, or, perhaps even borrow one if we're very, very lucky.

This might sound totally stupid, but if it's such a pain, why not make up a wooded replica? Would be easy to turn up in a lathe (that from someone who has never used one!!!), and you could even make it up in bits to join together later.
Matt black paint, and from a distance it would look the part - would you still have to store it in a bloody safe???

No idea on a lathe - never used one! If it was me, I'd make it up out of 2 ft sections and join them together.

Actually, I have seen one made from 100mm plastic drain pipe and a wooden breach/venturi looked real at 20 feet ;D
