Perentie 6x6 GMV Battery Charger Dimensions
« on: October 23, 2020, 12:34:50 PM »
Hello All,
I'm chasing the dimensions of the later-type 12/24v battery charger fitted to the front LHS of the GMV module if anyone can help?
Photo attached (sourced from carsales website), it is the black box with the red, blue and black terminals on the front. I've noticed a few of the recent GMV's going through the auction still have the battery charger fitted.

My GMV had the battery charger removed prior to the auction. It was fitted with the original Arlec type battery charger, and I know where that is but apparently it is still used by the Reserves Unit who originally had the GMV, so I'm looking to make one of the later-types to install there.

Thanks in advance.
Ian

Hi Ian - I have an electronics workshop model as well.  My charger was cooked when I got it and lots of water damage in the 240V switchboard.  The 240V parts were easily replaced with new and these are now back to original specification.  The 12-24 volt charging system was a diffferent matter and after lots of looking I could not find a "like for like" replacement.  I bought two smart chargers and fitted them internally on the end of the 240V switchboard.  These give me a LED reading of the volts in the battery and the ability to read out whether the battery is in what state of charge or discharge.  So far, after three years, the batteries and system has been absolutely trouble and (as far as anything can be) maintenance free.  I fitted a 12V gel battery as well, connected into the system,  and this powers the onboard 12v LED TV screen for about two days or 12 hours before recharging is required.  I fitted additional LED white and red Lights in the work area and the battery supply stops flickering.  Hope this helps  STDDIVER

Thanks Frank,
That's given me some ideas. Fortunately my 240v system looks to be in good condition, although I haven't plugged it in yet to test it.
I needed to keep a battery charger up to the module batteries and vehicle battery over winter which is the reasoning behind refitting a fixed battery charger to the module, and might as well make it look as original as possible.
Ian

Good on you Ian - Sounds great.  MY beast has the A/C unit and the battery charger lives in the A/C motor area which is probably why it was found wanting with the noise and vibration of the system.  Looks like a very nice unit - well done!   Frank
